This was another very fine novel by Mr Petit. The varied Western topics that I have read by C J make the reading of each one of Mr Petit's stories an independent adventure His novels show a great deal of research on each one of the Western careers or trades he is presenting. This novel was not only entertaining, but educational especially in how a photographer views and frames his pictures. Besides all of the trade research, Mr Petit still presents in addition a great love story, a view of one man's mission, another man's road to perdition, and an expanding of one woman's worldview. As always there is good character development, strategic planning, plenty of Western gun action, fine descriptions of Western life, and glimpses of great personal emotion. The story of Sam Chase's Mission and the widening of Jackie's worldview were the best parts of the book. It was very enjoyable to read.
