I like C.S. Poe and I love Gregory Ashe but even so I was surprised to see how incredible they were writing together. Writing collaborations don't always work out well. But this story took the best of both of them and made a seamless collaboration. C.S. Poe writes quirky, lighter mysteries and Gregory Ashe writes intense and somewhat dark mysteries. This book was a nice balance of both. Sam and Rufus meet over a desire to solve the murder of their good friend Jake, a police officer who knew too much. The chemistry between them is immediate. I loved Rufus, he was so cool and quirky and Sam is the tall, dark and handsome hunk. They are both brilliant yet emotionally damaged. Great fast paced mystery too. It ends in a minor cliffhanger, I can't wait for the next one.
